It is SO great to be able to watch and document my friends and their families grow. I can't believe it's already been a year since Tasha and Amilcar had little Harmony! They had a party for her at the Playroom in Sherman Oaks where they make you take off your shoes and wear socks...and for good reasons. From the moment I got there, I was inevitably running and crawling all over the place just TRYING to get a photo of little Harmony. Damn, that girl is FAST! I joined my girlfriend JoVina in the bouncy castle and quickly got kicked out by a 4 year old! I don't think there is an age limit...
I had SO much fun with Michelle and Arthur this past weekend! Since Arthur travels a lot, Michelle thought about doing an Aviation-themed engagement shoot. We decided to start at the Santa Monica Airport where we got access to where they park their smaller planes. We found a cool yellow one as a prop and then headed over to the soon-to-be-opened Museum of Flying...Honestly, I can't wait to go back once it's open. The planes inside look so rad!
Afterwards, we went back to my hood in Venice and ran around the pier and beach for some late afternoon sunlight. It was SUCH a beautiful day,...
Congratulations to Amy and Jared, Betsy and Lawrence, and Amy and Scott for being famous this month! All three couples had the honor of having their wedding selected out of thousands of submissions to be featured in print! It was so fun shooting all of these weddings that took me from Camarillo, to San Francisco, to Costa Rica. Although the beauty of these weddings can't be summed up in a handful of photos, but hey...its fun to be in a magazine, right? :)
Also, I have to give a shout out to Julie Nunn with I DO! Wedding and Event Design in San Francisco, since they forgot to mention all of her hard...
I have to thank Nada Jones for creating and organizing the AMAZING ltdLIVE, A Conference for Entrepreneurial Women. It has been annually at the Pasadena Convention Center and I have had the honor of photographing it two years in a row. I LOVE when I get inspired while I am shooting and I had to stop numerous times to jot down notes from the fabulous array of speakers I was listening to and photographing. It was overwhelming, yet so inspiring at the same time especially 30 hours after getting back from my 6 week trip from Africa!
Amongst the speakers were: Marla Vasquez, Nada Jones, Dr. Pamela...
After spending two amazing weeks in Tanzania, Sarah and I boarded a plane to South Africa to tour around the bride and groom's home country and see for ourselves if South Africa is really as beautiful as people say...All I can say is that I was blown away by the beauty of Cape Town. There are not many cities in the world I could picture myself living in, but Cape Town is DEFINITELY on that list. Despite it's violent history and the fact that everyone put the fear of God in us to be careful driving around Cape Town, we had such a positive experience there. Everyone we met was so hospitable...
FINALLY, the blog you have been waiting for! Terrence and Karen's stunning wedding on Zanzibar Island, Tanzania. Terrence and Karen are two of the most wonderful, generous people I have ever met and after meeting both of their families, I know where they get it from! It is so amazing that we met on skype once and were able to coordinate meeting on the other side of the planet and how smoothly and perfectly everything turned out! I am so lucky to have had the help of the super talented, Sarah Natasha Horowitz, not only with her photography, but doing the hair and make-up for the bride and wedding...
Zanzibar, is part of the Spice Islands and used to be it's own country made up of 50 something islands on the Indian Ocean, until it became part of Tanzania. It is a quick jumper flight from the mainland of Tanzania and is one of the most magical places on Earth. It is no wonder why Terrence and Karen, my couple from South Africa, decided to have their wedding there.
Zanzibar has a lot of Indian and Arabic influences in their architecture and culture, yet boasts a huge population of Masai Warriors and also many Italian tourists. This blend made the island feel so exotic and was a photographer's...
I cannot even describe in words how amazing the last month of my life was in Africa. With all of the world traveling I have done, I had never stepped foot on that continent and one month there barely even skimmed the surface of this gorgeous and complicated place. The reason I wanted to even become a photographer at age 15 was when I first started watching National Geographic shows and all of the footage shot while on safaris in Africa. It has been a life-long dream of mine to see these gorgeous creatures in the wild and to be able to capture them on film myself...so when I was asked to photograph...
Check out the fabulously stylish, Ceci Johnson, and our gorgeous shoot we did while attending the Engage11 Conference in the Cayman Islands!
ESCAPE TO PARADISE
Recently I was invited to speak at the luxury wedding business summit engage!11, held on the beautiful Cayman Islands in the Caribbean. Seeing as I love the beach – and who doesn’t? – the location couldn’t have been more perfect. Everywhere I looked I was mesmerized by the bright blue of the sea and the soothing sandy tones of the beach.
I adore these seaside hues so much, I often recommend them to those planning...
